Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2, 2026
This policy explains what personal data Vpinion collects, why, who else handles it, and your choices. The data controller is Individual Entrepreneur Artur Yesayan, registered in the Republic of Armenia. Questions or requests: support@vpinion.com.
1. What we collect
- Your account: your email address and display name. Your password is handled by our login provider and stored only in scrambled (hashed) form — we never see it.
- What's public: the display name you choose is shown on your polls and public surveys and on your profile page, together with those polls and surveys and the month you joined. Until you choose a display name you're shown as “a Vpinion member”, with no profile page. Private (link-only) surveys never show who made them. Your email address is never shown.
- What you create: polls, surveys, their options and questions, photos you upload, links to YouTube videos, and comments.
- Votes: which option you chose (or, in “Pick any” and “Find a date” polls, which options you ticked and your Yes / If need be answers), linked to your account (one vote per person). In a Find a date poll for a group's members, the organiser can choose to show members' names next to their answers; the poll says so before anyone answers. To stop vote manipulation we also store a scrambled version of your internet address and browser type, made with a secret key so it can't be turned back into the address itself.
- Reasons and agrees: if you add a short “Why?” reason to your vote, we store it with your account. Others see it under the option you chose, without your name, together with how many voters agreed. Reasons are screened automatically; one that's flagged or reported may be read by a moderator. We also store which reasons you agreed with.
- Updates and emails: we store the updates shown under the bell (for example “your poll has ended”), your email settings, and a record of which notification emails we sent you and when. Emails go only for the kinds you've chosen, at most one a day, and every email has an unsubscribe link. If our email provider tells us an email to you bounced or was marked as spam, we record that and stop emailing you.
- Groups: the groups you create (name, description, photo and settings) and which groups you're in, asked to join or were removed from, with your role. A group's members can see its member list (display names only — people who haven't chosen one show as “a Vpinion member”); outsiders only see how many members it has. Private groups are visible only to their members. Polls and surveys made for a group's members are shown only to its members (and to Vpinion moderators when checking a report). When you vote on one as a member of a group that people can't join with one click, we note that the vote came from a member, so our checks against vote manipulation treat it as trusted. Members get an update under the bell when something new is posted for them.
- Survey answers: the answers you give. If you're signed in, they're linked to your account, so you can carry on from any device and they're included when you download or delete your data. The survey's creator sees the answers, never who gave them. You can also answer without an account; then your answers aren't linked to your name or email. As with votes, we keep a scrambled (keyed) internet address and browser type to limit spam. A random code saved in your browser lets you resume a survey later. Answers you type are screened automatically when you submit; one that's flagged is hidden from the survey's creator and may be read by a Vpinion moderator.
- Purchases: what you bought, the amount, the date and the order number. Card and payment details go straight to our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy — we never receive them.
- Technical data: our hosting providers keep short-lived server logs (such as internet address, time and page requested) to run and secure the service.
2. Why we use it
- To run your account and show, count and share polls and surveys — this is the service you signed up for.
- To prevent fraud, spam, bots and fake votes — a legitimate interest in keeping results honest and the site safe.
- To screen new polls, surveys, typed survey answers and display names automatically for content our Terms don't allow — the same legitimate interest. Content that's clearly against the rules is refused; borderline content is published and reviewed by a person.
- To process purchases and keep the records that tax and accounting law require.
- To send emails you need: confirming your address and resetting your password. We don't send marketing emails, and we don't sell or rent your data to anyone.
3. Who else handles your data
We use these providers to run Vpinion. They process data on our behalf and only for these purposes:
- Supabase — logins and storage of uploaded photos.
- Neon — our database.
- Render and Vercel — hosting of our server and website.
- Resend — sending account and notification emails.
- OpenAI — automatic screening: the text and photos of new polls and surveys, answers typed into surveys, and new display names are checked for content our Terms don't allow. OpenAI doesn't keep what is sent for this check and doesn't use it to train its models.
- Cloudflare Turnstile — the “are you human?” check on sign-up, log-in and password reset, which looks at browser and device signals.
- Lemon Squeezy — payments. As the seller of record they also act as a separate controller for payment data, under their own privacy policy.
- YouTube — videos embedded in polls and surveys load from youtube-nocookie.com, and only after you click play.
Some of these providers store data outside Armenia, for example in the United States or the European Union. We only use providers that protect data with appropriate safeguards.
4. Cookies and browser storage
We use only what the site needs to work: a login cookie to keep you signed in, and browser storage to remember survey progress on your device. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
5. How long we keep it
- Your account and content: until you delete them, or delete your account (account page → “Delete my account”). Deleting the account removes your sign-in, your email address and name, and your polls and surveys with their photos, your poll reasons and agrees, your updates and email settings, and your place in groups. A group you own passes to its longest-standing organiser, or is deleted if it has none; when a group is deleted, the polls and surveys posted for its members are archived (only their creators still see them). Our record of the emails we sent you stays, no longer linked to you, as part of our email totals. Your votes and survey answers on other people's polls and surveys stay in their results but are no longer linked to you.
- What we keep after an account is deleted, without your email or name: purchase and credit records (for accounting and refund or dispute questions) and any moderation decisions about the account (to deal with abuse).
- Updates under the bell: deleted automatically after 90 days.
- Backups made by our database provider expire on their own within a few days.
- Survey answers: as long as the survey exists (its creator can delete it at any time).
- Photos uploaded but never used in a poll or survey: deleted automatically within about a day.
- Sign-ups nobody ever signs in with (for example, never confirmed): deleted automatically after 48 hours.
- Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting law requires.
6. Your rights
You can download a copy of the data we hold about you, or delete your account, yourself: on your account page, under “Your data”. You can also ask us to correct your data or stop using it, or withdraw consent you've given: write to support@vpinion.com from the email address on your account and we'll reply within 30 days. You can also complain to the Personal Data Protection Agency of Armenia, or to the data protection authority in the country where you live.
7. Children
Vpinion isn't meant for anyone under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has given us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.
8. Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections, passwords are never stored in readable form, and access to our systems is limited. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. If a change is significant, we'll tell you on the site or by email. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
